Storyline
Ji Chang-wook, a.k.a. Kim Je-ha, is a former PMC Blackstone mercenary soldier. He is falsely accused of killing his civilian girlfriend Raniya when he is in Iraq. Consequently, he flees and turns into a wanted person. Upon his return to South Korea, he unexpectedly receives an offer to work as a bodyguard from Choi Yoo-jin (Song Yoon-ah), the proprietor of JSS Security Company and the spouse of Jang Se-joon (Jo Sung-ha), a presidential contender. In return for the means to get revenge on Park Kwan-soo (Kim Kap-soo), a rival presidential candidate who had previously given the order to assassinate Raniya, he accepts the task. Je-ha is tasked with protecting Go An-na (Im Yoon-ah), Jang Se-joon's hidden daughter, whose life is constantly in danger due to Yoo-jin, her stepmother. After spending her entire life alone and as a hermit, An-na begins to rely on Je-ha, who shows her concern and defends her at all costs. Je-ha finds himself conflicted between defending his newfound love, An-na, despite Yoo-jin's wishes and working with his employer, Yoo-jin, to exact revenge on Park Kwan-soo as they gradually grow in love. The son of her father's mistress and future second wife, Choi Sung-won (Lee Jung-jin), who is his half-sister's ardent adversary, is another important character. After collaborating with Park Kwan-soo on a plot that ultimately results in the deaths of Jang Se-joon and Choi Yoo-jin, he eventually pays the price with his own life at the hands of Kim Dong-mi, Choi Yoo-jin's loyal and merciless assistant (Shin Dong-mi). With Park hanging himself for his heinous deeds and Je-ha clearing his reputation, Je-ha succeeds in exacting his revenge. As the show comes to a close, Je-ha and An-na are seen cuddling up in a faraway land, with Je-ha set to confess his true name to An-na.
